Kent Burnside w/ Jimmi Wood and J.J. Holiday - 7:00 PM
137 Anacapa St
Santa Barbara, California 93101
USA
Price: FREE

Kent Burnside is the grandson of the late blues legend R.L. Burnside. His grandfather’s musical style heavily influences Kent’s approach to his music. R.L.’s hypnotic and driving guitar work helped shape a specific style of blues, specifically North Mississippi Hill Country Blues, which is characterized by rhythmic eccentricity and a heavy drone sound. R.L. Burnside is regarded as a pioneer of Hill Country blues and many rock musicians today credit him as an important influence to their music, including The Black Keys.

Kent Burnside’s debut record My World Is So Cold was released February 2014 and was recorded in the legendary EastWest studios on Sunset blvd. The talented band that are featured on the record and which will be accompanying Kent at his July 23rd performance will consist of Jimmie Wood and JJ Holiday, band mates of the blues-rock band The Imperial Crowns and members of The Blues Brothers. “With joyfully punkish vocals, neo-psychedelic guitar lines, and howling blues harp, Kent’s Hill Country blues is updated with a spiky propulsiveness brought out from modern rock and R&B.”
